The Media Room
![]()
Welcome to the Media Room. This is the place that you will find pictures, video and articles of past events and games. This will be updated and pages will be archived as we go so that you can always go back and relive those special moments. If all goes according to plan and with the help of the team's videographer (Rodney Mattrisch), we are hoping to post short edited highlight video clips of that week's game here as well. This way if you didn't get a chance to see the game in person, you can still see at least the highlights.

The World of Video by Rodney Mattrisch
Another one of today's modern technologies is video. While pictures serve their purpose, nothing beats video for you not only catch images, but you catch "moving" images along with sound. Video plays a major roll in football today. Coaches not only have the luxury of watching how their team is performing, they have the luxury to watch their opponents ahead of time so that they can better prepare for that opponent.
Now for us fans, video serves a different purpose. We watch it so we can see what we may have missed or in most cases, we get the opportunity to watch something over again to maybe relive that treasured moment.
Of course not everything is worth filming. Greendale football is! I invite you to browse around this site for you might find some interesting or entertaining items. We will be making every attempt to upload pictures and video from each game. Some of the video items may take a while to download, but I can assure you that it will be worth the wait. Who knows, if you were in the stands at a game, you might even see yourself. Smile!

Year End Season Videos
The last several years, Rodney Mattrisch and his partner Chuck Cairns have been willing to combine their talents to put together a highlight video that captures the essences of the entire season. These guys do it because they enjoy their hobby and they enjoy the game of football. Putting together something like this takes many many hours. A general rule of thumb we were told was that it takes one hour of editing time to edit just one minute of finished video. This includes all aspects of editing.
The season may seem like it's over after the last ball is kicked or the last touchdown scored, but that is not so for these two guys. They are still sitting behind a PC putting together what will soon be the ultimate memorial keepsake. When these guys are asked why they do it, they simply say, "Because they wished someone would have done this for them back in their era.
Putting this together does take time and there are materials involved. This is why they ask $50.00 for each copy. For the most part, the money that is made is used to reimburse what was used for materials, reinvested into to more equipment and software and donated back to the GPTC. The past few years, a special premiere night was planned of which all of the players, parents, coaches and fans could come and watch this on the big screen in Greendale's auditorium. Afterwards, the videos were made available to anyone who wanted to buy one. Unfortunately, for some strange reason, they didn't sell that many this past year. You would think that after a season like that, everyone in Greendale would want one. Apparently that wasn't so. Up until this year, they have been averaging close to 40 videos being sold and for this past year, only 23 were sold. One reason why could be that the price was too high. All we are going to say on that is sure, $50.00 may seem like a lot of money, but how much do you think a video like that will be worth 20 or 30 years from now? The answer is "Priceless!" It also could be the fact that people are copying the disks from others which is sad and hurts their feelings because they are doing this out of the kindness of their hearts so that people will have something that will be around forever. All they are asking is for something in return. It's really a shame that there are people out there that don't recognize that fact and could care less about their efforts. Right now we are told, there are still 20 of this year's videos unsold.
Because of this, a different approach will be taken for now on. What will happen is that there will be a commitment form handed out to all of the players at the beginning of the season. This form will state that they will buy a video at the end of the season for whatever the price will be. Lately they have been $50.00/ea because of all of the extra games (which generates extra work) being played but there is a chance that they might only be $40.00 if they fail to go deep into the playoffs. The price breakdown would be listed on this form. This form will need to be signed and then returned. At the end of the season, the people that signed this form will be obligated to buy the video because they signed this form. The catch is that there will be a minimum of 30 forms needed. If there are only 25 forms turned it, they will forgo putting together and kind of highlight video and the players and families will only have pictures that they take or newspaper articles to remember their season by. This is really the only way to solve a lot of issues but in the end, everyone will be happy.
